e-MIOSHA.com: MIOSHA Compliance

In Michigan MIOSHA gets paid over $12,000,000 a year by OSHA to do the safety enforcement for them. In addition, the State gets to keep the $4,000,000 to $5,000,000+ in fines that MIOSHA collects each year. For more information on MIOSHA's budget, click on the link below.

MIOSHA also gets to write their own version of the safety rules provided they are at least as strict or more strict than OSHA’s version. Traditionally MIOSHA has opted for additional and more strict requirements. In fact, you can be 100% in compliance with OSHA rules and still be fined by MIOSHA!

Unfortunately, many out-of-state companies sell “OSHA Regulations,” “OSHA Seminars,” and other OSHA compliance products in Michigan. These products are essentially worthless! They may comply with the OSHA requirements, but not the additional requirements imposed by MIOSHA's regulations. Buying these products would be a waste of your time and money. You can be 100% in compliance with OSHA’s rules and still face fines from MIOSHA for not complying with their additional requirements.

If you are a Michigan employer, you are wasting your money if you buy “OSHA Regulations,” attend “OSHA Seminars,” or purchase other OSHA compliance products. In Michigan, you need “MIOSHA Regulations,” “MIOSHA Seminars,” and MIOSHA compliance products .

MIOSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard, or Right to Know Law, is a classic example of these additional requirements. MIOSHA adopted the OSHA HazCom Standard and then added four pages of additional requirements. You can be 100% in compliance with OSHA’s HazCom rule and still face fines from MIOSHA for not complying with their additional requirements.

Examples of other additional requirements made by MIOSHA:

• Bloodborne Pathogens Standard - additional protective equipment and procedural requirements.
• Exposure limits for chemicals - many of MIOSHA’s Permissible Exposure Limits are lower than OSHA’s.
• MIOSHA 300 Log - additional recordkeeping and notification requirements.
• MIOSHA also has additional requirements in many of their other standards.

Don’t waste your time and money buying OSHA Compliance Products when you really need MIOSHA Compliance Products! For more information visit MIOSHA Safety and Health News.

MIOSHA Compliance Seminars

Many out-of-state companies conduct “OSHA Compliance Workshops” in Michigan where they explain only the OSHA requirements, not the additional requirements imposed by MIOSHA. Attending one of these programs would also be a waste of your time and money. You can be 100% in compliance with OSHA’s rules and still face fines from MIOSHA for not complying with their additional requirements. Pathfinder Associates, a Michigan company, conducts MIOSHA Compliance Seminars on a regular basis throughout Michigan. Click the following link to check their latest offering.
